Courses and Workshops on Thai Massage
and Yoga Therapy

Thai Yoga Therapeutic Bodywork classes are designed
to work on many levels:
1. Massage techniques and physical manipulation
You will develop a new level of awareness of how
to use your body in order to meditatively , effortlessly,
and gracefully engage in a dance of harmony with another
body.
You learn how to relax and warm muscles, loosen and
open joints, extend range of motion, stretch and manipulate
all major joints and muscle groups, release tightness
and holding patterns, improve flexibility, increase
circulation and energy flow.
There are sequences of movements in supine (lying
on the back), prone (lying face down), side, and sitting
positions. You learn how energy moves through the
body and how to work with energy lines.
Students learn how to use the natural weight of their
bodies to effect deep and transforming work through
physical manipulations and stretches of the entire
body. There is no muscular effort, but this work reaches
every part of the body - muscles, joints, organs,
and energy body - in a profound way. Both giver and
receiver move in harmony, and both benefit from the
deeply relaxing and healing atmosphere.
All work is done on the floor, fully clothed, without
use of oil.
2. Ergonomics: how to use and protect your body
effectively
You learn how to do effective and powerful bodywork
without the risk of injuring your thumbs, wrists,
arms or shoulders.
You learn how to use not just your hands, but elbows,
forearms, knees and feet. This will enable you to
work on light as well as much heavier persons effectively
and without strain or effort.
You learn how to move easily with power and
grace, and how to work with your body weight instead
of with muscle power.
You learn how to maintain your own energy level so
that, instead of feeling tired after a session, you
feel energized.
3. Therapeutic applications
You learn how to read bodies, how to work with different
body and personality types, how to feel blockages,
how to recognize patterns of dis-ease and how to work
with them.
This goes beyond physical manipulation and includes
working with breath, energy, intention and visualization.
4. Energy work, healing principles and techniques
You learn how to transform a mechanical way of
moving, massaging and manipulating the body into
a creative dance which effects levels much deeper
than muscles and joints. Instead of being a 'massage
mechanic', you learn how to be a healer.
5. Attitude and consciousness of a healer
You learn how your own attitude and awareness affect
the healing process of your client. This training
is designed not just to work on other people, but
also to further and refine your own growth and healing.
You give to others not just a bodywork technique,
but you give your energy, you give who you are,
you give your ability to connect with the universal
source of all energy.

Courses include a detailed introduction to the
theory of this modality, practical bodywork demonstrations,
supervised practice sessions, course manual, video
CD where all sequences can be seen in motion, and
a certificate of attendance. Some previous exposure
to either yoga and/or bodywork is helpful.
This bodywork requires a reasonable amount of flexibility
of the practitioner and is not suitable for very
overweight or extremely stiff persons.
Excellent!
I learned more useful information in 6 days of this
seminar than I did in 1 year of massage school. The
bodywork is amazing, and the fact that it is so easy
on the practitioner makes it the most useful modality
I have seen. Shama is obviously a master - I can't imagine
a more dedicated and gifted teacher. Thank You!

Massage therapist
I have never experienced
anything like it. The beauty of flowing with another
body in a healing way - for both giver and receiver
- is so unique. I wouldn't want to learn from anyone
else.

Yoga instructor
Shama's passion and love
for his work show through in the entire course. You
have a real gift, Shama, and your presence and energy
were felt by all of us. I liked the refreshing eastern
approach to healing, explained with passion from the
heart and the truth of experience.

Excellent! I got more out
of this course than I expected - and I had high expectations!
It is so important for me to now understand that we
are striving to become healers and not massage mechanics.
I liked Shama's emphasis on attitude, intention, energy,
and correct ergonomics along with the technique. Shama
is a gifted healer and teacher. For him this work is
not a job - it is a calling.

After participating
in a 40 hour certification class in Thai Yoga Therapeutic
Massage with Shama as the instructor, I can highly recommend
him as an instructor, as well as a therapist. His dedication
to the healing art and his ability to convey theory
and practice, as well as his commitment to helping others
is commendable. I recommend his classes and his services
to anyone dealing with unresolved health problems, or
just wishing to reach a higher level of health. He understands
what qualities are required to work as a healer and
appreciates the physical and mental exercise necessary
to keep himself working at the highest level.
